The free report card, and how it differs from tracking

The report card at trykeylight.com runs ten questions on one engine and shows you the result in about a minute. It is free, it needs no account, and it needs no email address to see on screen.

Enter a brand or a domain and a category. If the brand name is not the domain, there is a third box to say what it is.

What you get

A percentage with its margin, which brands came up instead of yours, and the ten questions with appeared or missing beside each one.

How it differs from tracking

Ten questions is a small sample, so the margin on a report card is very wide, usually around ±28. It can tell you that you are largely absent or largely present. It cannot tell you that you moved, because there is nothing to compare it against.

Tracking asks about 25 different questions per topic, across the engines you choose, every week. That is what produces a number tight enough to watch over time.

The seven day cache

A result is kept for seven days per domain. Running the same domain again inside that week returns the saved result rather than running it again. The page tells you when the result was made and when it can be run fresh.

An email address is asked for only if you want the PDF or want to turn the result into a tracked workspace.
