Which websites the engines cited

When an engine searches, it quotes sources. Keylight collects them and shows which websites are being cited on the questions in your category.

Your own pages are marked as yours, which is what the website field on the brand is for.

What it is useful for

Seeing who the engines treat as the reference in your category. If the same three sites are quoted on most of your questions, those three sites are shaping what the engines say about your market.

It is particularly worth reading for the questions your brand was missing from, which has its own article.

What we will not tell you

That copying those pages will raise your score. We do not know that, and neither does anyone else.

The most cited study in favour of AI search optimisation does not survive reading: it ran on a stand-in engine rather than a real one, with five pages competing per answer, on a model from 2023, and its own authors say the results do not transfer. A review of 45 studies found no technique with a proven causal effect.

So Keylight shows you what won the citation and stops. What you do about it is a judgement call, and it is yours.

When there is nothing to show

Some answers cite nothing, because the engine did not search. That is covered in its own article.
